World Day of Immunology - 28th April 2011
The 7th International Day of Immunology have launched a new website (www.worldpiweek.org)that has been organised by the European Federation of Immunological Societies (EFIS) and is the occasion for all interested in immunology to bring awareness of immunology to the public.
There is also now an initiative in progress with the aim of reigniting the PID campaign in Europe. The campaign will build on the success of the 2006 EU PID Consensus Conference (that included presentations from 3 members of INGID – Ann Gardulf, Amena Warner and Peter Vickers, as well as the substantial work undertaken over the past 5-years by the European PID patient, nurse and physician organisations (EFIS, IPOPI, INGID and ESID).
The aim is to build on the work that has been done to date and to unite all stakeholders push for our common objective of pursuing both early diagnosis and optimal care for patients with PID across Europe. In order to build on this momentum, there has now been drafted a European Reference Paper and Call to Action on Primary Immunodeficiencies.
